Each Maison et Objet event also highlights the work of six up-and-coming names in the world of design (this year’s featured designers), offering them the chance to present their work to professionals from around the world… and we had a couple of our own favourites:

Ulgador

Ulgador

Ulgador is the brainchild and the culmination of the artistic executions of Gabor Ulvechki’s. Gabor is a Hungarian-born multitalented artist, working from Paris since 1983. Educated and personally interested in a wide range of artistic disciplines like the fine arts, theater and Japanese papermaking, in 1984 he created a visual arts workshop – an award-winning company that has grown into Ulgador as it is known today.

In his workshop today, Gabor handworks a wide range of different materials with an effort to “enliven matter” – but it is with gilded leaf paper that Gabor’s efforts are expressing his creative spirit in the most spectacular fashion. Using techniques that he developed in his workshop, Gabor creates the most exquisite fine wall coverings we have picked up this year. His original set of techniques involving oxidation and corrosion, are able to give both spaces and objects breathtaking effects and spectacular colours.
